Oilers Scoreless in Last Two

The Oilers have been bitten by the flu bug, and as a result, have not had a single goal in either of their last two games. The Edmonton kids lost 0-2 to the Canucks on Sunday, a game that saw some "interesting" line combinations to say the least due to so many players being out with the flu. The game against Colorado two days later was not a very fun game to watch for this Oiler fan. The Avalanche jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first 25 seconds of the game! Apparently the Oilers just weren't ready for that one, as Hedjuk put one past "The Bulin Wall". The Oilers could never get anything going and as a result, Wolski netted two in the third (one on an empty net). Oilers lose again, 0-3.

It is interesting to note that the Oilers were playing blueliner Ladislav Smid, who the very next day was diagnosed with H1N1. Also, Lubomir Visnovsky was unable to finish the entire 60 minute game because he was too sick. Coinsidentaly, Lubo's locker is right next to Smid's. Although Smid didn't miss any games, Gilbert Brule missed three yet does not have the Swine flu, which everyone seems to be baffled by.

Losing a close game is one thing, but not scoring any points in the last two is quite another. Hopefully the Oilers have made it through the worst of the flu, and can get back on the winning track soon! They play the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow night at 7:30pm. You can watch the action live on TSN, I know I will be!
