Well, the Oilers played quite an exciting game on Thursday, although it wouldn't have been as exciting as it was if the Oilers hadn't given up a four goal lead. After dominating all of the scoring in the first period the Oilers built up a 3 goal lead, however Detroit began creeping back into the picture in the second with both teams getting two goals, for a score of 5-2 going into the third. . You have to give some credit to the Detroit kids, they battled in it to the very end and got 3 unanswered goals in the third. Score 5-5 in regulation. Overtime was scoreless, so a seemingly fly-away game ended up going to the shootout. "The Bulin Wall" was great in net for the Oilers stopping all three shots he faced, while Patrick O'Sullivan scored the lone shootout goal, giving the Edmonton Kids the "W".
This morning was quite a different game compared to the one the Oilers played on Thursday. The Oilers never got on the scoreboard and ended up losing 2-0 to the Boston Bruins. This is the 3rd game out of 4 that the Oilers have been scoreless. Granted they are still battling with effects of the flu, but there are more people on this team that are capable of scoring than Mike Comrie... much more!
The Oilers next action is Monday when they take on John Tavares and the New York Islanders at 5:00pm.
