It was announced today that Brayden Metz has "asked" to be sent down to the Melville Millionaires. A friend of Metz told me earlier that he had told her that "he would be coming back"(to Melville), he said this over a month before the announcement, so perhaps his mind has been made up for a while now. On the one hand, I suppose Metz may have made a good decision, perhaps he knows himself well enough to know what he wants and how committed he is. On the bright side, he is also giving the opportunity for some other player to get a chance to wear blue and white that truely wants to. However, on the other, I hope that Metz realizes how many players, virtually everyone in the SJHL, MJHL or any other Junior A league that they, would give anything to have the option to play in the dub. Just think about Czibere or Perrault, some of his own teammates had to give up so much just to be sent down to where Metz is requesting to play.
You never know what the future will bring, but if Metz really wants to be a National Leaguer some day they I suppose he will have to find some other path to get him there. Perhaps the Junior A to college route is where he wants to go, but I hope he realizes exactly what he is giving up when he asked for this. I hope that everything works out for the best with Metzy and his new team, because if it doesn't... he has no one to blame but himself.
